Tragic Accident Claims 6-Year-Old’s Girl Life at Lake

A devastating incident unfolded at Lake Pleasant in Arizona, where a 6-year-old girl lost her life in what authorities are describing as a tragic accident after being accidentally struck by a boat’s propeller.

According to officials from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Friday morning when two families, totaling 12 people, were on a wakeboard boat.

The group had been on the lake since 7 a.m., enjoying a day of recreation. However, at around 11 a.m., one of the families placed a distress call to the police, reporting that their 6-year-old daughter had been struck by the boat’s propeller.

Upon investigation, witnesses at the scene confirmed that the child’s mother was operating the boat as they began to drive. Tragically, the family was unaware that the young girl had somehow entered the water.

The child’s father, who was in the water holding onto a wakeboard, noticed an unidentified person in the water and quickly swam towards the body. Soon after, the parents discovered that their child had suffered a leg amputation due to the boat’s propeller, as detailed in the news release.

Tragic Accident Investigation

Friday, officials reported that a 6-year-old girl died in a tragic accident after being struck by a boat propeller in an Arizona lake.

Maricopa Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez shared that other boaters in the area promptly stepped in to assist the family in transporting the injured child to the lake’s marina.

Once there, first responders immediately provided aid, but despite their efforts, the young girl was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Enriquez expressed that this heart-wrenching incident is being treated as a tragic accident, with the number of people on the boat potentially contributing to the misfortune. Preliminary findings suggest that impairment does not appear to have played a role in the incident.

Additionally, the boat was equipped with all necessary safety measures, including life jackets and fire extinguishers, according to the initial investigation.

The boat’s owners are reportedly experienced boaters, and after initial interviews, it seems that the group may have lost track of who was on the boat and who was in the water at the time, engaging in various water activities like swimming and wakeboarding.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park, situated northwest of Phoenix, is a renowned outdoor recreation area that attracts visitors for water sports such as wakeboarding, boating, and kayaking.

As the investigation continues, authorities extend their condolences to the grieving family, emphasizing the importance of water safety and vigilance while enjoying recreational activities on the lake.
