OGDEN — The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking around 5,000 good men and women.
The government agency, which has a large presence in Ogden, is hiring for 5,000 positions across three service processing facilities in Ogden, Austin, and Kansas City. According to Raphael Tulino, an IRS spokeswoman, more than 1,000 of the positions are for IRS locations in the Ogden region.
He stated, “It’s a significant thing.” A large-scale recruitment effort like this is “certainly not the norm.”
In-person job fairs will be held at the Utah Department of Workforce Services office in Clearfield, 1290 E. 1450 South, on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day as part of the endeavour.
IRS representatives will assess resumes and make employment offers to qualified applicants on the spot.
Temporary and permanent roles are available, with many entry-level clerk and tax examiner positions requiring no prior tax experience. According to an IRS press release, the positions to be filled are intended to assist taxpayers throughout tax season, and hirees will likely begin working within 30-45 days after receiving job offers.
“Those who want to work in an environment where customer service is a priority are urged to apply.”
“This is rewarding work,” said IRS Taxpayer Experience Officer and Wage and Investment Commissioner Ken Corbin, “as these newly hired workers will process tax returns and provide refunds to the nation’s taxpayers.”
He claims that the positions the IRS is looking to fill can serve as stepping stones to other positions inside the agency.
Applicants should bring their resumes as well as two forms of identification.
Before attending an in-person event, applicants should create a usajobs.gov account, develop or upload a resume, and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. The IRS recruitment team in Ogden can be reached at 801-620-4562 or via email.
