How Many Get the Extension?

The benefits extension will affect roughly 399,000 Oregon households.
The minimum is $95 and varies depending on household size. More info here.
A SNAP benefit of $95 is added. The extra benefits averaged 60%, or over $460.
As a result, Oregon has extended the benefits. Since March 2020, the feds have authorised every emergency allocation.
Some states have extended the emergency benefit, while others are discontinuing it.
Every month, SNAP and Medicaid give extra money or services to millions of Americans.

SNAP Emergency Quota

Extra SNAP money, called an emergency allocation (EA), has supported those hit hard by the virus.
SNAP beneficiaries got at least $95 monthly on top of their stipend.
Many states are reducing the money.
SNAP recipients must prepare for a lower monthly stipend.
Since the pandemic began in 2020, the PHE allowed for additional SNAP and Medicaid benefits.
The latest PHE was extended by the HHS Secretary on January 16, 2022.
Now that it’s set to expire on April 15, the benefits are in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, federal agencies have been advising programmes on how to phase out so Americans are prepared.

What is Medicaid?

Medicaid is the nation’s low-income health insurance programme.
Medicaid spending varies by state but can range from $1,446 for kids to $43,171 for disabled people.
The government programme is run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
It’s federal-state cooperation, thus states run Medicaid.
CMS began contracting states to help people maintain coverage post-PHE.
It requires states to continue prompt processing of all applications within four months of the end of the public health emergency.
After PHE, states have one year to execute renewals, post-enrollment verifications, and redeterminations of eligibility due to beneficiary changes.
Check with your Medicaid office for updates on your benefits, as the public health emergency is about to end.
