Shots were fired overnight in Nebraska, leaving 1 dead and 7 injured!
During a shooting early Sunday morning in Omaha, Nebraska, one person was killed and seven others were hurt. Police are looking for the person who did it.
Officers responded to the shooting at 4 a.m. and “found two victims with apparent gunshot wounds,” the Omaha Police Department said in a news release.
Police say that one of the people killed died at the Nebraska Medical Center.
“Six more people drove themselves to the Nebraska Medical Center and CUMC-Bergan Mercy Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening,” the release said.
Police first said that seven people were hurt in the shooting, then changed that number to 12, then changed it back to seven in a later release.
Police said it took a while to figure out how many people had died.
In the updated news release, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said that investigators think the shooting happened because of a fight at a party.
“It is very important that OPD figures out what happened so that the victims and their families can get answers. At this point in the investigation, there was a party after work, and there was a fight that led to gunfire. Schmaderer said, “There is no sign that it was a random shooting.” “The OPD is using more resources, and for now, there will be more police around.”
Police said that the homicide unit is in charge of the case and that they are still looking into it.
Police said that anyone who gives them information that leads to a suspect could get a $25,000 reward.
