Police Say Multiple Individuals Were Killed in a Shooting at a Walmart in Virginia


A police official says that many people were killed in a shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Tuesday night. No one said how many people were killed or hurt, but authorities think the shooter is dead.

Officer Leo Kosinski, a police spokesman, told reporters: “We think there was only one shooter, and that shooter is dead right now.” This is what NBC affiliate WAVY in Portsmouth, Virginia, caught on video.

Kosinski says that the police were told about the gunshot at the Walmart Supercenter just after 10 p.m. Police think that the shooting took place in Walmart. He said that one person’s body was found outside the business.

A hospital representative said that five victims were being treated at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but their conditions were not known. On Tuesday, someone fired a gun at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, and police are looking into it.

Kosinski said to the reporters that he didn’t know how the shooter died. He said he didn’t think the shooter was killed by the police. It wasn’t clear if the shooter or any of the people who were killed worked there.
