New Reporting Tool Enables College Athletes to Raise Gambling Suspicion Alerts
College players can now report suspected gambling behavior on a digital site where they can inform their administrations anonymously of improper or unlawful behaviour by coaches, teammates, or others. The cooperation between RealResponse and U.S. Integrity, which tracks real-time patterns in sports wagering and looks for anomalies, will be provided at no additional cost to the company’s 150 client athletic departments.
The tool will provide college athletic directors with a direct channel to investigators and expands on a tip hotline that U.S. Integrity and RealResponse announced in May. Over a dozen players have been charged with crimes following a state investigation into illicit sports betting at Iowa and Iowa State. Brian Bohannon, the baseball coach for Alabama, lost his job in May after being accused of engaging in questionable gambling during a game against the Crimson Tide.
Although using betting apps could theoretically make collegiate athletes easier to detect, fraudulent accounts remain a concern. Authorities claim that certain accounts at Iowa and Iowa State were opened in other people’s identities. According to spokesman Nick Joos, RealResponse works with Iowa State. According to spokesman Matthew Weitzel, Iowa is not a client of U.S. Integrity but instead collaborates with them through the Big Ten Conference.

Tackling Gambling Threats
A collegiate player will be able to go to their existing RealResponse webpage and report suspected insider knowledge misuse, potential game manipulation, and physical threats related to gambling, among other things, according to RealResponse founder David Chadwick. Administrators can ask U.S. Integrity investigators to review, confirm, and send a report to the proper authorities after it is received.
The gambling reporting tool associated with U.S. Integrity is currently only available to colleges, despite the fact that RealResponse also collaborates with professional sports organizations and national sport governing bodies to give athletes, coaches, and staff a way to anonymously report bad actors.
Using school athletic websites, the general public can report gambling-related issues as part of the RealResponse cooperation with U.S. Integrity. No matter what measures are taken, betting scandals will occasionally occur, making the business of monitoring players, coaches, and staff members one that is certain to continue to develop.
