Murder-Suicide: NYC Cancer Doctor Shoots Herself and Baby in $1M Westchester Home
In what police are labeling a’murder-suicide,’ a prominent cancer doctor killed herself and her infant daughter in her $1 million Westchester home. Mount Sinai in New York City employed Dr. Krystal Cascetta, age forty, as a Hematology-Oncology specialist. According to a report from ABC7, the horrifying incident occurred in the baby’s bedroom in the Westchester County community of Somers at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. Police affirm the scene corresponded with a murder-suicide.
Cascetta was due in March of this year, according to an online due date. The police have not yet disclosed the baby’s age or gender. Cascetta wore a breathtaking white fishtail gown to her 2019 Greenpoint, Brooklyn wedding. Uncertain if the couple has additional offspring. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Somers is conducting an investigation into a murder-suicide that occurred in the municipality of Somers.
An initial investigation found that at approximately 7:00 a.m., Krystal Cascetta went into her child’s room, shot and killed her child, and then turned the gun on herself. With Talty, Dr. Cascetta resided in the $1 million residence in the Granite Springs neighborhood of Somers, New York. Talty operates his own energy bar company, dubbed the Talty Bar, and shared online how his wife utilized her medical and scientific expertise to assist in the development of the most effective product.

Life and Journey of Dr. Cascetta
In New York City, Cascetta specialized in breast cancer as a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for exemplifying excellence in humanistic clinical care, leadership, compassion, and devotion.
Cascetta was characterized in her biography as an avid runner and fitness enthusiast. The bio also states that being a doctor was in her DNA and that she was frequently discovered as a child wrapping dolls in gauze. The death of her mother’s closest friend from breast cancer when she was in the eighth grade is said to have inspired her to pursue a medical career. Cascetta was an active clinical trial investigator for breast cancer as a result of this event.
She received the Intern of the Year award as an internal medicine resident at the North Shore University Hospital affiliated with the Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine. Cascetta is affiliated with both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
