SALEM, Ore. Most Oregonians receiving SNAP assistance will get emergency allotments in April, officials said Tuesday.

Since March 2020, the federal government has approved emergency allotments. This helps SNAP recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April, about 399,000 SNAP households will receive an additional $65 million in food benefits.

“We know many rely on these additional emergency food benefits to feed themselves and their families,” said Claire Seguin, ODHS Self-Sufficiency Programs deputy director. Many Oregonians are still struggling to meet their basic requirements, so we encourage them to contact 211 and the Oregon Food Bank for assistance.

Current SNAP families will be credited on April 12. Not receiving benefits in the first monthly release will be awarded emergency allotments on April 29 or May 3.
