Christmas Eve Tragedy: Cops Say a Man Assassinates His Wife and Attempts Suicide While Their Children Are Present
According to Miami police, a man remains in serious condition after fatally shooting his wife and then shooting himself in an effort to commit suicide.
According to WFOR-TV, officers only identified the suspect as a 40-year-old male and his wife as a 37-year-old woman. The couple’s 13-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were also there at the time of the event, according to the officers.
The tragedy was discovered by police on Christmas Eve. They claimed the incident took place in the backyard of a residence in the 2000 block of SW 132nd Avenue about midnight on December 23 and 24.
According to investigators, an older sister contacted the cops, but officers and fire rescue arrived to discover the mother dead. The man accused of murdering her has lived to tell the tale. There were no further injuries reported by officers.
The shooting and its aftermath were heard by a next-door neighbor, who alerted the news station.
“I heard a man shouting, followed by three or four more gunshots, and then everything was quiet,” Diary Cordero recalled. “Then I heard the kids yelling for their mother.”
Officers did not elaborate on what they believed occurred prior to the shooting. They made no mention of motivation. They didn’t say who was involved or what their names were.
