The US Navy asked for help from the bomb squads of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to get back a torpedo that had been found a few miles off the coast of Southern California.

On Monday, the Special Enforcement Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department got a call about a suspicious-looking object floating in the water. The torpedo was found by a boater about three miles off the coast of Dana Point, according to the Orange County Register.

When they got to the scene, they saw a big metal torpedo with military markings. The current was moving the torpedo along. During the process of getting the torpedo back, technicians from the United States Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal in Orange County helped the LASD bomb squad.

In the late evening of that day, the crews were able to pull the torpedo out of the water and put it on a boat. Officials with the LASD said that the torpedo turned out to be a training device that was not dangerous. It was given to the Navy technicians, who will probably get rid of the device.
