SNAP payments, which allow people to buy food, are also distributed by the states. In October 2021, the government increased SNAP benefits by 25%. In 1975, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was established.

SNAP benefits are also available to Social Security recipients. Individuals who fall below the poverty line, on the other hand, are only eligible for the payments. SNAP assistance will not be available to Social Security recipients who earn more than the income limit. According to the US Sun, the Elderly Americans League is pressuring Congress to pass $1,400 checks for senior citizens.
