A two-year-old died in a DUI accident in Riverside on Wednesday, and the police have started looking into what happened. The fatal crash happened around 12:33 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, on the southbound lanes of the 215 Freeway, which are north of Blaine Street.
In the accident, both a sedan and a pickup truck were hurt. At the time of the accident, there were three people in the sedan. The driver and two children aged three were among them. The pickup truck was being driven by just one person.
The California Highway Patrol says that when the truck started having mechanical problems, it was right in front of the sedan. The pickup truck and the sedan crashed into each other as the truck was pulling over to the shoulder. This caused the sedan to flip over.
It was found that the victim, a three-year-old girl, had died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the sedan had minor injuries, and the other child, who was three years old, had moderate injuries, according to the police. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by ambulance.
The CHP has confirmed that the truck driver did not get hurt in the accident. Investigators found that alcohol played a role in the crash that killed people. No new information has been given, and the investigation into what happened is still going on.
